The GlycoCheck™ Technology
GlycoCheck™ is a non-invasive medical device used to analyze the microvascular health by examining the glycocalyx. The glycocalyx is a microscopic gel-like layer that lines the endothelium (inner wall) of blood vessels and is crucial for vascular health
Administration: To use GlycoCheck™, a specialized video microscope is placed under the tongue. This location is chosen because the capillaries here are close to the surface and easy to access.
FUNCTIONING: Once the microscope is in place, it captures real-time, high-resolution video images of blood flow in the capillaries. These images are then analyzed using advanced software.
Measurement & Analysis: GlycoCheck™ measures the Microvascular Health Score (MVHS), which reflects the condition of the glycocalyx. It does this by assessing factors like the
perfused boundary region (PBR), which indicates how deep red blood cells can penetrate the glycocalyx. Deeper penetration indicates more glycocalyx damage.
Outcome: By providing a detailed analysis of the glycocalyx and capillary function, GlycoCheck™ helps in the early detection of microvascular issues and guides healthcare professionals in prescribing therapeutic options.
